7 Week Firebolt

Don't let this innocent face fool you! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. Una is seven weeks and running around the house like mad. She is definitely her mother's daugther, into everything she can find. She get's lonely in the puppy pen and starts screaming for us to let her out. She is training us well! Una is 4lbs. 5oz.

Spunky!

Our little Una has lots of spunk! She terrorizes Julie to no end, but is all growl and bark (no bite). Una is 3lbs. 6oz. Finally slowing down in the weight gain this week. She loves to play and is very vocal! Julie still spoils her, letting her climb and tug at her all day. I'll be starting her on solids this week, so should be fun!

A Whole New World - Una @ 3 Weeks

Una is experiencing a whole new world, as her eyes and ears are fully opened and she is experiencing everything for the first time. We are slowly starting to acclimate her to our normal household sounds/activities, she takes it all in stride and normally sleeps right through anything we have going on. Una is now 2lbs. 4oz. and is a spoiled little girl, as Julie caters to her every need and desire to feed. Julie is a great Mom and is always looking out for her darling little girl.

Una Turns 2...Weeks!

Una is already 2 weeks and thriving! She is now 1lb. 7.5oz. Her eyes and ears have started to open, you can see a little slits where her beautiful eyes are peeking through. She now recognizes our voices and is comfortable in my hands and arms.

Una is 1 Week!

Una is growing fast. She's already more than doubled her weight at over 14oz.Una has the cutest little bark, when she wants to get Mom’s attention. Already, starting to stand up on her legs, she gets around rather quickly in the whelping box.

Meet, Una!

A beautiful little Ruby girl, weighing 6.4oz was presented to us via c-section this past Thursday. The c-section went smoothly and Julie and Puppy are doing well. We have chosen Charivari Maiden Voyage as her Registered name and will call her, “Una.” Una came out kicking and was extremely excited to see Mom for her first feeding. You can even see her little milk mustache in the photo, taken just hours after she was born.

Mother To Be!

Julie looks confused about her new sleeping arrangements. Ken did a great job building Julie's new whelping box. We're expecting Julie to have her puppy any day now (Visit our Puppies page for more info on this litter). We're like expectant parents, pacing around the house awaiting the arrival. The whelping box is set up in our Master Bedroom as we maintain 24 hour "puppy watch" here. The X-ray's taken today, show just a single puppy, so we're hoping for a beautiful show prospect. We're prepared for anything at this point, natural or c-section is anyone's guess. Due to the high probability of a c-section, we have scheduled one for this Friday (if Julie doesn't have the puppy by then). Keep your fingers crossed and say your prayers for a smooth delivery and a beautiful healthy puppy... or two (a "magic" puppy).

Cavalier Specialty - Atlanta, GA

A busy and productive weekend for Ken and Nordictouch Golden Charm, "Julie." We ventured to Atlanta, GA for the Cavaliers of the South Annual Specialty Show. "Julie" placed 2nd in her class on Saturday, under English Breeder/Judge Mr. Dick Terry of Virgloshimee Cavaliers. A nice win, as "Julie" was handled by Ken at only their second Cavalier Club show. There were nine in her class and some very nice looking girls. Congratulations to Ken and Julie!!

We chose to travel to Atlanta, GA not only to show, but to have all our Cavaliers tested by a certified Cardiologist and Opthamologist. We are happy to report that "Julie" is once again heart clear and her eyes are normal. We will be having her hips and patellas done in Charleston, SC and will be sending all results to OFA and CERF. We are hoping for our first litter this fall or next, so keep checking back.

Unfortanatly, our oldest and first pet Cavalier Monticello Mountain Molly, "Molly" came back with a Grade 2 Mitral Valve Leak.
We will be having an ultrasound at the end of the week to see how her heart is coping. Molly just turned six on March 20th. We were sad to hear the news, but know this is one of the many healthy issues plaguing the breed. We will continue to keep everyone posted on Molly's condition. Molly is a wonderful companion and continues to particpate in Rally Obedience.

Prince William

Welcome to your temporary home "Prince William," "Willie" for short. Willie is our little foster boy and is keeping us very busy these days. Willie is full of energy and life! He is a sweet and healthy seven year young male. He is an excellent retriever and loves to carry toys throughout the house. He is a GREAT ball and Frisbee dog and has a lot of drive for a Cavalier. He’s a little dog, but definitely with a big dog personality.

Willie will be staying with us, until a permanent home is found for him. If interested in Willie, please visit Cavalier Rescue USA or email me for more info.

Julie's Flyin'

Ken and Julie are back in training, Agility training that is. They attended their first class in Charleston and Julie had a great time running the course. Ken was a bit rusty, but Julie knew just what to do. Here's a great picture, showing everyone what a speed demon our Cavalier can be. They are excited to be back in training and are looking at their first trial this Spring/Summer.

A Different Way of Life

The dogs have been real troopers as we have all been living very seperate lives for the past few months. Chance and Julie have been with Ken in South Carolina, Molly here in Colorado, while Coche has been living the reitred life in Florida.
Coche Basking in the Florida Sun

Molly braving the Colorado Snow

Chance and Julie enjoying a walk at the beach

We look forward to having all the "fur kids" being in one home again, very soon. Hopefully, we will all be enjoying the warm Carolina sun!
